Making Strides of Newark
I had the amazing opportunity to host the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Mulberry Commons in Newark, NJ this past weekend! Continuing this fight against cancer means a lot to Lala and me as our grandmother is a two-time breast cancer survivor. Inspired by her strength & resilience in face of this dreadful disease, hosting this event was something I could not pass up!
In true NJ fashion, the incredible Malcom X Shabazz High School Band kicked off the walk and DJ Juanyto from HOT 97 spun his beats, keeping the party going all day as we walked together. It was a memorable day of listening to great music, showing off some Zumba-esque dance moves, and making incredible connections with women of all ages!
In the U.S. today, it’s estimated that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer and, other than skin cancer, it is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in America. I’m grateful for organizations like the American Cancer Society and supportive companies like Avon that make fundraising & research possible. It was a Sunday Funday filled with nothing but positive vibes and we are so proud to support not only this walk, but this movement!
Here are some awesome photos from the event! Head to our Facebook page to see more!
